Deputy Minister for Education Dr Zaw Myint arrived at the former University of Computer Studies (Kengtung) in the afternoon of January 19 to inspect the site in connection with plans to relocate and open the Kengtung Education Degree College there.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister met with the Rector of Kengtung University, the Principal of Kengtung Education Degree College, the Eastern Shan State Education Officer and other officials. At the meeting, he explained that the Education Degree College is currently operating within the campus of Kengtung University. As the college has been relocated to the Polytechnic University (Kengtung), the former University of Computer Studies (Kengtung) campus has become vacant. He therefore urged officials to cooperate in studying and making arrangements to relocate the Kengtung Education Degree College to that campus.
The Deputy Minister and his delegation then inspected three-storey main building, futsal football field, indoor sports hall, staff quarters, a dormitory capable of accommodating 80 students, and staff housing. They also toured the site and discussed plans to ensure convenient teaching and accommodation for students from the Kengtung Education Degree College.
Afterwards, the Deputy Minister visited Kengtung University and met with lecturers and staff at the convocation hall, where he encouraged them and inquired about their needs. He also toured and inspected the university campus.
The Deputy Minister subsequently visited the Kengtung University Library and the Kengtung Education Degree College, and inspected the university football field and sports hall, coordinating arrangements to address requirements.
On the morning of January 20, the Deputy Minister visited the Basic Education High School in Kholam, Shan State. He met with the headmaster to inquire about the school’s needs and coordinated necessary support. He also paid homage at the Shwe Se Khon Kaungmu Shyan Pyay Nyein Aye Pagoda, it is reported.
