Nay Pyi Taw, 23rd January 2026

Upgrading Teachers’ Professional Development titled “Presentation on AI in Education,” aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and research for teachers, was held at the new Naypyitaw State Academy Conference Room this morning.

Union Minister for Education, Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Deputy Minister, Dr. Zaw Myint, Directors-General, Rectors, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Pro-Rectors, Professors, and teachers attended this seminar.

Firstly, the Union Minister stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a very important technology in today’s digital education. It is necessary for teachers to understand how AI is being used in the teaching and learning sector. Teachers can use AI in designing lessons and curricula. However, she emphasised that they should not solely rely on AI, but teachers should instead utilise the information obtained from AI beneficially, incorporating their own insights to create curricula that suit well with the country’s situation and the needs of our students.

She encouraged the teachers to use AI productively in gathering information related to the discussion topics while preparing to conduct training courses. AI is a very useful supportive technology in research projects. Students have been using it to find topics for their project papers. Therefore, she urged teachers to guide students on how to use AI technology systematically. In fields involving international cooperation, using AI offers the advantages of saving considerable time, allowing for the rapid compilation and systematic application of required information. Although AI has many benefits, there are also challenges, so she concluded by encouraging teachers to use AI technology beneficially and effectively in their workplaces.

Then, Dr. Thiri Aung, Professor and Head of Department of English, and teachers from various subject departments presented and discussed the ways of using AI in teaching through PowerPoint presentation. Teachers who attended the seminar then asked questions, discussed, and gave suggestions.

Subsequently, the Union Minister delivered a closing remark, and the Deputy Minister highlighted the key points concerning the topic for the following week’s discussion, titled “Interactive Teaching and Learning Approaches”.
